Step 1

Feed your fish betta pellets and flakes. This type of food is specially designed to visit all of your bettas’ nutritional needs. When you are purchasing betta food you should consider that it is easier to measure the pellets.

Step 2

 Don’t  overfeed your betta fish. Overfeeding can lead to health problems including, constipation, gastrointestinal blockage and swim bladder disease. The best policy is to only feed your betta three pellets of food a day. You can select to feed them all at once, or stretch the feeding throughout the day.

Step 3

Skip feeding your betta one day a week. The fasting day gives your betta an opportunity to clear its GI tract.

Step 4

One or two times a week you can vary your bettas’ diet by offering live food e.g. blood worms, fruit flies or brine shrimp. Treats should only be fed one or two times a week.

For the most part, betta fish are one of the easiest pets to own. There are no filters to mess with, they only eat once per day as well as able to live to their normal life expectancies with regular care. However, betta fish could get sick. Depending on what the ailment is, there are a few things you can do to treat a sick betta fish.

 Step 1
Recognize what’s wrong with your betta fish. Know when it’s healthy, and look for any signs or symptoms that may indicate a sick betta fish. Note modifies in appetite, color or behavior.

Step 2
Isolate the sick betta, if you have other fish. Place it in a separate bowl or jar. Use the same water so as not to shock the fish with an abrupt water temperature change. Isolating the sick betta fish makes it easier to administer its medication.

Step 3
Clean the fish bowl regularly. Many betta fish diseases are due to poor water conditions, e.g. bacteria in the water. Remove the betta with a fish net, thoroughly clean the bowl and any accessories you might have added, treat the new water with a neutralizer (such as AmOuel), refill the bowl and place the fish back into the clean bowl.

Step 4
Diagnose the illness. Consult books and websites such as Bettatalk that list common betta fish diseases, their symptoms and treatments. Choose the correct remedy for your fish.

Step 5
Administer proper doses of antibiotics, if necessary. These are obtainable at most pet stores. In several cases, other actions can help such as cleaning the tank, adding a small amount of salt to the water or raising the water temperature slightly to speed up treatment.

The beauty of Beta mixed with a lovely peace lilly with little maintenance.
Step 1
Wash the vase and the rocks and make sure the peace lilly is free of dirt (rinse in cold water) any dirt will cloud the water.

Step 2
Place the rocks in the bottom of the vase, cut a hole in the plastic lid big enough for the roots of the peace lilly to fit through, make sure roots are long enough to reach the water once the vase is full of water

Step 3
Fill vase with water place beta in water and then put the plastic lid with the peace lilly on the vase, making sure the roots are in the water. Now tie a ribbon around the neck of the vase. Now you have a beatiful plant and pet in one. This makes a great gift or just a nice office decoration, with little maintenance. The beta will feed off of the plant and the plant feeds off of the beta’s waste and the water.
